If you want a nice little desk lamp that puts out decent light for reading or writing but not illuminating the whole room then this is for you. Sturdy base and construction. Design makes it nice to hang jewelry from. Only complaint is that the on/off is on the cord. It'd be nicer if it was on the lamp area somehow but its not too annoying.

Good lamp
I bought a Verilux lamp last year for reading at home and I have this lamp at the salon over my nail table. This lamp is 99% the same as the brand that costs twice as much. It does not have the cheapy grid like reflector to cover the bulb but I say why spend 35.00 more to get that crappy feature. I put them side by side and they are the same!!!!!

The perfect bedside table lamp!Last year I built my wife a nice red oak bedside table and we looked a long time for an affordable lamp to accompany it. This little lamp has turned out to be just the thing! The silver color and frosted/crackle shade are attractive and the touch-sensitive power feature is great for turning the light on without fumbling around in the dark too much. The three way bulb is also nice for different reading light preferences.
There's not much to say other than this lamp has the look and feel of a quality item costing much more. I highly recommend this purchase!

Smaller than expectedThis lamp is lovely but alot smaller in size then expected. The bulb I believed would be the traditional size but instead is a small night light bulb. Since this lamp was so small I ended up having to purchase an additional light. Shipping and Handling was also rather pricey for such a small and light item.

Works for meI've gone through too many desk lamps looking for one that's just right. If I had hair I'd be like Goldilocks looking for the perfect fit.
For me this lamp is a perfect combination of illuminatin and style. The six inch base doesn't take up a lot of room and the lamp shade is adjustable by the flexible gooseneck.
I don't want a lamp that lights the whole room; I've got a floor lamp for that. The Globe desk lamp illuminates a large enough concentrated area to light my large desk calendar and keyboard; it makes reading in that limited area comfortable.
The cord is not very long but reaches far enough for my needs. If you need a six foot cord you'll need an extension.
The on/off switch is on the cord about a foot from the lamp base. Depending on placement this could be a problem in some applications.
Replacing the special fluorescent bulb with built in ballast could be a problem. I haven't seen bulbs like this in stores but they are available on Amazon. If you buy this lamp you'd be wise to buy an extra bulb at the same time.
I use thes lamp daily and am pleased with my purchase.
